Open Schools are offered to elementary and secondary schools during the year to see first-hand what students do on campus on a daily basis .  On the Open School day, documents summarizing the class schedule and its content will be distributed. (Reservation required.)

We accept students of all nationalities and religions as long as they meet the admission criteria*. However, Kansai International Academy is not an accredited school as designated by Article 1 of the School Education defined by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. Parents/guardians will be responsible to  take the necessary steps to deal with the relevant administrative organs.

Elementary School
Kansai International Academy, an accredited bilingual (IB PYP) school, offers a bilingual ( Japanese/English) inquiry based learning program from the time students enter the school in G 1.This includes reading books, summarizing enquiries (Japanese and English), and exchanging ideas (speech), so it is expected that students have a balanced reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills in Japanese and English equivalent to that of their grade level. Furthermore, we would like to inform parents and guardians that it is essential to understand the meaning and purpose of the IB (International Baccalaureate).

Secondary School
The majority of students in the secondary school classes are either graduates of Kansai International Academy Elementary School or returnees from abroad, and upon entry into G7, students are required to have the language skills to participate in project-based classes in Japanese and English, as well as grade-level math and language (Japanese and English) academic proficiency.

There are no specific standards for the English language ability of parents required for admission.

The admissions interview is not an opportunity to measure the English language skills of parents. It is more important that parents are willing to communicate with their English-speaking teachers than the language skills themselves.

Furthermore, we believe it is very important that all parents should be as involved as possible in their child’s education. We would like you to understand what and how your child is learning and to help them reflect and apply what they have learned in school to their culture and community.

※The registered email address will be used to inform you of the entrance examination date and for acceptance/rejection notifications. Please designate the domain (@faculty.kansai-intlschool.jp) to receive our email. Please note that there may be cases where the email is deemed to be a virus or spam and is not sorted into your inbox, and you may not be able to check the email, or the email itself may not be delivered to you.

The child and his or her parents are required to participate in this event. If one of the parents is unable to attend due to special circumstances, please contact us in advance.

For mid-term admissions, it takes a minimum of two weeks from the date we receive your child’s application form and other required documents to the interview, after participating in an information session. We will contact you to discuss the timing of your child’s enrollment so that he or she will be able to participate in the classes smoothly once enrollment is confirmed.

If you wish to enroll your child at the beginning of the school year (April), we recommend you submit your application by the end of January at the latest since there will be a spring holiday. In addition, we cannot conduct examinations or interviews during the summer vacation period from late July to the end of August. The office is open during the summer holidays, except for the Bon vacation period, so we will be able to respond to all inquiries and application requests.

We do not accept a trial enrollment.

No dormitories are available. Students must live with their parents or guardians.
