UOI

Young children are natural inquirers. Asking questions is one of the ways in which children make sense of the world and their place in it.  The Kindergarten Program uses this natural inquisitiveness as a basis for learning throughout the day.

This approach to learning is embedded in our Units of Inquiry in which children explore a big idea or meaningful concept through guided inquiry over a period 7–12 weeks.

Theme: How the World Works
K1 The Earth’s natural cycles influence the activity of living things.
K2 Understanding the way materials behave and interact determines how people use them.
K3 Simple machines and tools can make work easier.

Field Trip

Kindergarten classes also often go on short trips (to a local park and post office, etc.). Field trips are learning opportunities to deepen students’ knowledge and skills by connecting Units of Inquiry with the real world.
